Dept. of Forestry and Fire:

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s firefighters, fire engines, and aircraft respond to an average of more than 5,600 wild land fires each year. Those fires burn more than 172,000 acres annually. The prevention of large, devastating fires remains a very real priority for this Department.

During the fall of 2006, J.R. Conkey provided and prepared conceptual cost estimates of probable cost for the California Department of Forestry/DGS budget packages for the modernization and new construction of seven different forest fire station and conservation camps throughout the state:  Ishi Conservation Camp, Bieber Forest Fire Station & Helitack Base, Fawn Lodge Fire Station, Growlersburg Conservation Camp, Red Bluff/Tehama Glen Forest Fire Station, Westwood Forest Fire Station and Las Posadas Forest Fire Station. Similarly, in mid-summer 2007, the firm provided estimating services for the Higgins Corner Fire Station site at the 50% and 100% design phase. (Glass Architects and HMR Architects respectively as Prime).
